World leaders, friends, organisations, and many more have been paying tribute to Jane Goodall.
António Guterres, Secretary-General of the UN, wrote on X, formerly Twitter and now a Nazi-hell site, how deeply saddened he was to learn about the passing of Goodall, who he called "our dear Messenger of Peace". He also said that Goodall is leaving "an extraordinary legacy for humanity and our planet" and said he was grateful for her "lifelong environmental protection efforts and her strong support for the UN".
Others who praised Goodall were Samia Suluhu Hassan, the president of Tanzania, who said that Goodall was a friend of the country and paid tribute to her decades of research on chimpanzees in Gombe national park: “Dr Goodall’s pioneering work at Gombe National Park transformed wildlife conservation, and placed our country at the heart of global efforts to protect chimpanzees and nature. Her legacy will live on.”
